02 / biographyManatee Commune is the recording project of Grant Eadie. The project began in 2014 with Brush, a self-released debut built from tape loops, field recordings, and early melodic instincts. A self-titled follow-up in 2016 introduced a wider palette of organic instrumentation — violin especially — and cemented a songwriting voice that sits between downtempo, indie electronic, and ambient.
Over the next decade MC released four full-length albums and a run of EPs, remixes, and collaborations via Bastard Jazz Recordings in Brooklyn. Thistle (2017) pulled the project toward lush arrangement; PDA (2019) leaned into groove and club-ready form; Crescent Lake (2020) turned inward, favoring spacious textures and meditative pacing; and Simultaneity (2024) is a refined, cinematic statement built on ambient techno, minimalism, and spatial design.
The live project has toured internationally, opening for ODESZA, Shallou, Emancipator, EKALI, SHAED, Bishop Briggs, and Geographer, and appearing at festivals including Electric Forest, Lightning in a Bottle, Shambhala, and Sasquatch. Today Grant lives with his wife outside Seattle, still writing, still playing small and intimate rooms when it feels right.

Simultaneity
A refined, modern evolution—leaning into ambient techno, minimalism, and cinematic flow. Less song-based, more continuous and immersive. Strong emphasis on mood, restraint, and spatial design.

Crescent Lake
A more ambient and introspective body of work, centered around spacious textures and meditative pacing. Includes “Majestic Diver” as a key single within this project. Feels like a conceptual, environment-driven piece—almost soundtrack-like.

PDA
A shift toward groove and structure. Incorporates elements of house, indie dance, and melodic bass while retaining the organic sensibility. More DJ-friendly, yet still emotive.

Thistle
A transitional EP that leans further into lush, melodic production and tighter arrangements. Serves as a bridge between the debut album and the more rhythm-forward material to come.

Manatee Commune
The first fully realized statement. Rich in organic instrumentation (notably violin), downtempo grooves, and indie electronic songwriting. Strong vocal collaborations and a cohesive emotional arc.

Brush
A formative, exploratory record. Lo-fi and textural, with heavy emphasis on atmosphere, sampling, and early melodic instincts. Less polished, but foundational—this is where the sonic identity begins to emerge.
